Stainless Steel 17-4PH, also known as 630 stainless, is a precipitation-hardening martensitic alloy. Its composition is defined by a precise balance of chromium (around 17%) and nickel (about 4%), with the key addition of copper and niobium. This unique formula allows it to be heat-treated to achieve impressive mechanical properties. Through this process, it develops remarkably high tensile and yield strength, coupled with good toughness and resistance to corrosion, making it significantly stronger than standard austenitic stainless steels.
