This Nitronic 50 Bars and Rods is high performance stainless steel comprising 22-26% of chromium, 13-16% of nickel, 2-5% of manganese, and 0.5-2.0% of silicon with traces of carbon, phosphorus, sulfur, and iron. It contains also about 0.5% of nitrogen to increase its tensile strength as well as the resistance against corrosion. Its good mechanical properties show tensile strength of 85-100 ksi (585-690 MPa), yield strength of 35-60 ksi (240-410 MPa), and elongation of 40-50%. Nitronic 50 bars and rods possess excellent resistance to pitting, stress corrosion cracking, and oxidation. They are therefore suited for severe applications, including high-temperature and high-corrosion applications in industries such as aerospace and chemical processing.
